29th november 2018: Teaching PE and share knowledge with the teacher of Xavier Jesuit college

Today I continued to teach lessons of physical education, together with the teachers and Sister Anne.  Most of the classes got their second lesson and in these lessons we tried to learn some motorial, social and cognitive competences with games f.ex. freeing tagger, 5-ball,... We have enough space to increase the activity of the children.  And like one of my ex-colleagues always says... they need a "shower" after the lesson PE!

In the late afternoon, I had a session with the teachers of kindergarden 2/3 and grade 1, 2, 3 and 4 (campus Dey lo and Phnom Bak) to share knowledge and give some advice, tips & tricks,... when teaching PE. At the end I had a little present... Belgian cookies and a pen (thank you to local government and VIVES - university college).

Tomorrow it will be my last day in Xavier Jesuit college.  After teaching, I will travel to Rong Vean in the late afternoon.

27th/28th november 2018 - Teaching physical education in Xavier Jesuit College

After a long, safe and good flight from Brussels to Siem Reap, I travelled to Xavier Jesuit College where everyone welcomed me hearty.

I'm here to work on the "Learning outcomes of Physical Education". During 4 days I will teach different classes for kindergarden 2, 3 and grade 1, 2, 3 and 4.  I will share my knowledge about motorial skills like balance, ball skills, running skills,... and show lots of examples where physical education increase social and cognitive competences of the children as well.

Teachers and sister Anne are involved and translate my instruction.  They teach together with me.  I try to give them a structure for organising a PE class and to learn the skills/competences to the children. After a warming-up (with or without music), we do a circulation to improve skills or different exercises in small groups.  At the end of lesson we play a game.

On Tuesday (27th november 2018) I teached my first PE-lessons.  Great experience!  Also on Wednesday (28th november 2018) the lessons were interesting and nice to teach.  As a teacher you learn a lot to organise everyting with big groups of enthusiastic children. Teachers and children do/did a wonderful ACTIVE job! Great to see big smiles and progressions in learning motorial, social and cognitive skills by physical education.

Pictures tell more than thousand words...
